About Halvern
An independent agency built to represent you.
Not a carrier.
Halvern is an independent insurance agency representing 60+ carriers. The agent who quotes your coverage is the agent who answers when something goes wrong. And our license number is at the bottom of this page.
The problem
Why buying insurance feels the way it does.

The usual way to buy insurance: a toll-free number, a script, and a quote you can't quite compare to anything else. Or a captive agent: often genuinely good at the job, but with exactly one company's shelf of products to sell you, whatever your risk actually looks like.
Either way, the policy arrives written in a language nobody speaks at home. The exclusions, the list of things it won't pay for, tend to surface at claim time, which is the one moment they can't help you. And the person who sold it has usually moved on to the next sale.
Halvern is built against that grain. Licensed agents, 60+ carriers to shop, exclusions read aloud before you buy, and everything that matters confirmed in writing. The rest of this page is the evidence.
The team
Who you'll actually work with.
Halvern is run by licensed property & casualty professionals who quote, place, and service every policy the agency writes.
The dedicated-agent model is deliberate. No handoffs, no “meet your new account manager” emails. One licensed agent carries your file from the first quote to the last claim and answers for every recommendation you get.
The Halvern Standard
Five commitments, numbered so you can hold us to them.
01
Plain answers.
If an answer needs jargon, we define the jargon before we use it.
02
The market, not one carrier.
Every recommendation is drawn from 60+ carriers, never a quota, an incentive trip, or a favorite.
03
Exclusions, read aloud.
You'll hear what your policy won't pay for before you buy, not after a loss.
04
Written confirmation, always.
Nothing binds, changes, or cancels on a verbal. If it matters, it's in writing.
05
An agent who answers after the sale.
Claims, certificates, renewals, mid-term questions: same person, same number, for as long as you hold the policy.
Why independent
Captive vs. independent, honestly.
Both are paid by commission. The difference is who the agent can shop.
A captive agent
Works for one insurance company and can sell only that company’s products. Many are genuinely good at the job, but when their carrier raises rates or declines a risk, the conversation is over. The only move left is yours: stay and pay, or start over with a stranger.
An independent agent
Represents multiple carriers (Halvern currently represents 60+), so when one carrier reprices or narrows coverage, we move your policy instead of losing you. The honest caveat: independence doesn’t make an agent good. It just removes the excuse.
Neither model is free of incentives. Captive or independent, the agent earns commission on what you buy. The difference you can actually use is that an independent agent’s commission doesn’t depend on defending one company’s price. If you prefer this argument as a table, we’ve put all three ways to buy (accountable agent, lead-gen site, captive carrier) side by side on the how-it-works page.
The process
How a policy actually happens here.
Tell us what you need.
About three minutes, online or on the phone. Rough guesses are fine.
We shop the market.
Your risk goes to the carriers whose appetite fits it. All 60+ are in play.
You pick. We bind it in writing.
Options side by side, a recommendation with reasons, nothing in force until it's in writing.
Credentials
The license, on the record.
Publishing this is the point. All of it can be verified.
